A United Commitment to Conservation

The North American Lead-Free Partnership is built on a foundation of voluntary, science-based, hunter-led conservation, and we’re not doing it alone. Across North America, organizations are stepping up to sign our resolution and support the mission to reduce lead exposure in wildlife while protecting the future of hunting.

From wildlife agencies and land trusts to outdoor brands, educators, and hunter-conservation groups, our partners recognize that conservation works best when it’s collaborative. These organizations are leading by example: helping hunters and anglers adopt lead-free ammunition and tackle; and championing education, accessibility, and ecosystem health.

What It Means to Sign the Resolution:

  • Affirm support for voluntary, non-regulatory efforts to reduce wildlife lead exposure

  • Champion education and outreach to empower hunting and hunter-led change

  • Promote access to effective, affordable lead-free hunting ammunition choices

  • Join a community of agencies, businesses, and conservation leaders

  • Help protect our wildlife conservation and hunting heritage

Founding Partners

  • Oregon Zoo – Educational resource on how lead affects wildlife and efforts to reduce exposure

Beyond its role as a leading zoo, the Oregon Zoo plays a key part in regional wildlife conservation. The Oregon Zoo launched the Lead-free Hunting Oregon Program to promote public awareness, access, and opportunity for hunting ammunition choices that manage unintended impacts of lead on wildlife.

  • Institute for Wildlife Studies – Research and conservation programs addressing wildlife threats including lead toxicity

IWS conducts cutting-edge research to conserve threatened and endangered wildlife. Their wealth of experience with invasive species management and hunter outreach has helped shape national efforts to reduce lead exposure and promote voluntary solutions.

  • The Peregrine Fund – Conservation science and raptor recovery efforts including lead exposure research

The Peregrine Fund has led science-based raptor conservation efforts around the globe for over fifty years. Their work protecting and recovering raptors, including the California Condor, has been instrumental in raising awareness and overcoming threats like lead in the food chain.
